Art & Craft Workshop – Day 1 Report
With the Divine Blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the first day of the two-day Art & Craft Workshop was conducted successfully in a joyful and inspiring atmosphere.
The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Smt. K. Lakshmi Prasanna, Fevicryl Certified Trainer, and Smt. Dasa Vani, Skill Development Tailoring Coach. Following this auspicious beginning, Sri P. Visweswara Sastry, Convener of Koti Samithi, warmly welcomed the Art & Craft coach and all the participants, creating a cordial and enthusiastic start to the session.
During the workshop, Smt. K. Lakshmi Prasanna provided a detailed and engaging demonstration on Fabric Painting, Tie & Dye, and Pichwai Art. She introduced the 25 participants to various Fevicryl products and explained their uses in a simple, easy-to-understand manner. She also elaborated on the importance of colors and how they enhance creativity and design.
Participants were guided on the correct techniques for using brushes and stencils. A live demonstration was conducted on T-shirts, where designs such as a fine apple motif and an owl pattern were created, allowing everyone to practice and gain hands-on experience.
The trainer further explained the damping technique using paper cut-outs and sponge application on fabric. She patiently supervised each participant, offering valuable suggestions and encouragement as they worked on their designs.
A particularly enjoyable segment was the Tie & Dye session, where handkerchiefs were folded, dipped in water, and colored to create beautiful patterns. The participants were delighted to see how simple lines and folds transformed into attractive circular and diamond patterns, making the learning process both fun and creative.
She also briefly outlined the activities planned for the second day. The artworks created by participants — including painted T-shirts, handkerchiefs, and fabric designs — were displayed and appreciated by everyone present.
In her address, Smt. K. Lakshmi Prasanna expressed her heartfelt happiness, stating that the joy she experienced at this center was truly special. She appreciated the students for their quick grasping ability and the beautiful work they produced.
The program concluded on a devotional note with the offering of Mangala Harathi to Swami, leaving everyone with a sense of fulfillment and gratitude.
